Presentation:
This recording, performed live at the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace in October 1996, at the opening of the musical and scientific days "the Ud meeting the European lute", is a historical recording in more ways than one. Indeed it was the first time that Master Tahar Gharsa, gave a strictly instrumental concert. It was also the first time that the Tunisian ud was used as a solo instrument in its own right, outside the context of the collective interpretation of instrumental pieces or the accompaniment of songs. This disc is an invitation to revisit the tba s (modes) specific to Tunisian music played by a musician who is undoubtedly one of the great figures of contemporary Tunisian music having inherited the secrets, the styles and the technique of the Tunisian ud of his Master Khemaïes Tarnène.
